Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum is one of the oldest and largest ones in Latgale. It was founded in 1938. It is situated in one of the most beautiful buildings of the town – art nouveau building that was built in 1883 and that is cultural and historical monument of architecture.
The mission of Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum is to collect, keep, examine and popularise cultural and historic, art and natural collections of Daugavpils region; to facilitate the exploration of cultural and historic heritage and modern experience; to motivate society’s interest and understanding of historical processes in Daugavpils region, to create in the society respect to their own mental heritage and traditions.
Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum (DRAM) is an accessible research and educational cultural institution for the society – it is the only municipal museum of Daugavpils. Its activity covers Daugavpils region – the modern territory of Daugavpils and its region and widely (in historical aspect) – district territory of Dinaburg, Dvinsk and Daugavpils.
