Daugavpils Regional and Art Museum is the main past evidence collector and thesaurus, researcher and spreader of Latgale region and Daugavpils region.
The inventory of the museum is created with the purpose to displays cultural history of the region from the most ancient times till nowadays, as well as different events in Latvia and worldwide that relate to Daugavpils region, remarkable countrymen’s life and activity. It is arranged according to the source groups: written, business and illustrative sources.
The inventory of the museum is enriched by various collections – artefacts gained in archaeological digs: traditional instruments, household objects, numismatics, bonistics, photography, documents, maps, gravures, paintings, natural specimens, etc.
